Even though we had a very windy meeting this month, it was very interactive and fun! Our hostess, Leigh Cox, started by telling an engaging story about Frank who sunk to the bottom of the sea because he felt a little overloaded. After gripping the kids’ attention with her brilliant story-telling skills, she moved on to read Hooray for fish by Lucy Cousins, and the kids absolutely loved the fun reading, and they joined in! Hooray for fish is a board book introducing Little Fish and his many fishy friends of all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours!
The second book Leigh read was the hilarious picture book Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. In this book “delightful chaos ensues when a young boy gets his kite stuck up a tree”. A very fun read that captures kids’ attention!
We also distributed our quarterly newsletter, which can be downloaded from here. Printed copies are available from Admin. In this newsletter, we cover the following topics: Our New Secretary, Sponsor a Teacher (project), Jacqui Shepherd’s Publications, News on Niki Daly, and General Reminders. It also includes a Fun Activity to help teach your kids how to take care of our Book Club books!
Our next Book Club meeting will take place on 15 September 2018!
Until then, Happy Reading!
