Today’s Book Club Meeting was the first for the year 2018! Kids from 14 of our 19 families attended, so we were a lovely-sized group!
We read two books. The first was Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae, ISBN: 9781841215655, which is a story about Gerald the Giraffe who was laughed at because he couldn’t dance in the same way as all the other animals, and yet he so desired it. A cricket helped him find his own music, and Gerald danced away! Quite applicable since I stood in for the reading today and my style is different then Leigh’s (who always does the reading, and sooo well!).
Anyhow, I got a lot of interaction from the kids and am quite pleased with the result.

The second book we read was The Three Questions, by Jon J Muth, ISBN: 9780439199964.
Nikolai knows that he wants to be the best person he can be, but often he is unsure if he is doing the right thing. So he goes to ask Leo, the wise turtle. Nikolai helps Leo dig in his garden, and when a storm sweeps in he rescues a panda and her cub. Using these incidents in his life, Leo helps Nikolai find the answer to his three questions – What is the best time to do things? Who is the most important one? What is the right thing to do?
A great book for discussion with kids!

Both these books are available to our Book Club Members!
Thanks to all who attended, and to Jessica and Cayla who did the Child Minding.
Our next Book Club Meeting will take place on the 3rd of March 2018, at Thorntree Preparatory School to celebrate their Literacy Day. More information with will be posted in this regard soon.
