This story takes the reader on a delightful time-travel journey through the main events in the history of France, and may even inspire them to study the French language with the use of some French terms in the dialogue. It is an easy read and wonderfully illustrated, and the storyline never ceases to intrigue the reader.
The story is about two kids who follow the trail of their dear friend, Doctor Proctor, through history as he travels back in time, using his new invention, to find his true love and change history, but ends up in a bit of trouble. A bit of mystery as the kids follow his trail keeps readers engaged, and the hilarious description of the events and settings they find themselves in make historical facts fun to learn about (and see from a different angle).
Nilly and Lisa learn valuable life lessons about friendships and righting wrongs along the way that are as important to them as to an open-minded reader.
A must read for fans of David Walliams (see Grandpa’s Great Escape) and Roald Dahl!
Older kids, around 11 up, will be able to read this book themselves, but it makes a great read-aloud for the whole family!
