Professor Fungus is a scientist. He has a robot that makes dinner, and his pet rabbit barks! Every year he participates in the annual Inventor of the Year competition, and his previous inventions (rocket-sneakers, motorized vacuum cleaner, and a breakfast-in-bed-alarm clock) ensure him the first prize every year.
One day he unexpectedly receives a garden gnome in the mail. But this is no ordinary garden gnome that “stands in the garden trying to look cute”. This is a gnome on a mission! – the result of sour grapes of a poor loser. Zenobia will do anything to win this year’s Inventor of the Year competition, including invading Professor Fungus’ laboratory with an army of garden gnomes. But Bennie and Jenny won’t accept defeat, and they help Professor Fungus out of trouble.
This is a fun read, with a fun message about enjoying science, and includes a simple science experiment children can try by themselves to make pasta dance!
Jaco writes in his hilarious fashion, which entices the reader in his fun reads! He writes in more modern language without the use of huge un-understandable words, and this makes his books easy to read and enjoyable. Even readers with Afrikaans as second language will easily be able to engage in this funny story.
