Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler) Mini Bio

American author, Daniel Handler, wrote the children’s novel series, A Series of Unfortunate Events, under the pen name of Lemony Snicket. But Lemony Snicket is not only the author, he also serves as the narrator of A Series of Unfortunate Events, and a character within it (therefore Lemony Snicket might refer to either the fictional character or the real person!)

Snicket has published 26 fiction novels – apart from A series of Unfortunate Events, other works by Snicket include The Baby in the Manger, The Composer Is Dead, Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can’t Avoid, The Latke Who Couldn’t Stop Screaming, The Lump of Coal, All the Wrong Questions and 13 Words.

Handler wrote an introduction to Lemony Snicket in his book Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography under his own name, published May 2002 – a book largely made up of facsimile documents, such as old newspaper excerpts and letters, as well as excerpts from other books and black-and-white photography (originally used for other purposes). The book helps clear up some loose ends from the series as well as details readers might have missed in previous books, but it also introduces many more mysteries…

Handler has recently completed a series of novels, All the Wrong Questions, which serve as prequels to A Series of Unfortunate Events.
